The New Jersey Scout Museum, established in 2004 as a nonprofit corporation, is dedicated to preserving the history of Scouting in New Jersey. The museum's collections have been temporarily relocated to secure storage facilities, with arrangements made for displays at Quail Hill Scout Reservation and Camp Sacajawea.

As a member of the American Association for State and Local History and the League of Historical Societies of New Jersey, the museum is not affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America or the Girl Scouts of the USA. Admission to the museum is free, and while donations are appreciated, the museum operates primarily through contributions and memberships.
