The Village of Brocton Water Pollution Control Facility (BWPCF) was established in the early 1980s, becoming operational in October 1983. Originally designed to treat 237,000 gallons of wastewater per day, the facility has undergone numerous upgrades to accommodate the needs of a growing community and the nearby Department of Corrections Lakeview Shock Facility, now boasting a capacity of 658,000 gallons per day.

Utilizing advanced technology and treatment methods, including Active Sludge through Sequencing Batch Reactors (SBRs), the BWPCF processes wastewater through several phases: pretreatment, primary treatment, secondary treatment, disinfection, and solids handling. The facility features five pump stations, numerous tanks, eight buildings, and over ten miles of sewer mains, supported by a dedicated staff of two full-time employees.
