Established in 1980, Central Park Conservancy is a private, nonprofit organization that manages Central Park, N.Y., under a contract with the city of New York and Department of Parks and Recreation. With more than 25 million visitors each year to its over 840-acre facility, Central Park is one of the most frequently visited urban parks in the United States. To manage the park, the conservancy crews offer various services, such as aerating and seeding lawns, raking leaves, pruning and fertilizing trees, planting shrubs and flowers, and maintaining ball fields and playgrounds. The conservancy s services also include removing graffiti, conserving monuments, bridges and buildings, caring for water bodies and woodlands, controlling erosion, maintaining the drainage systems, and protecting more than 150 acres of lakes and streams from pollution, siltation and algae. Central Park Conservancy is located in New York City.
