Dalrymple Gravel & Contracting

Dalrymple Gravel is a subsidiary of The Dalrymple Companies. The Dalrymple Companies have supplied quality rock products, concrete and hot mix asphalt to the construction industry for more than a century. Its construction company, Chemung Contracting, provides heavy and highway construction services throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. The original business, a gravel supply operation, started in Elmira, N.Y. in 1902. In those days, gravel was shoveled by hand and delivered to customers by horse-drawn wagon. The company s construction materials companies are wholly owned subsidiaries, including Dalrymple Gravel & Contracting Co., which serves the Elmira area; Seneca Stone Corp., which serves the Seneca Falls area in upstate New York; and Cedar Mountain Stone, which serves the Culpeper and Central Virginia market. These companies mine, crush and sell state-approved aggregates. In addition, the companies manufacture blacktop and supply ready-mix concrete at each stone source location and at numerous distribution points associated with each main plant. Dalrymple Gravel is located in Pine City, N.Y., where it employs nearly 85 people.
