David A. Essig, MD is an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. He has clinical interests in spinal deformity surgery, spinal infections, spine trauma, metastatic spinal disease, and degenerative conditions of the adult spine.He received a BA in Molecular Biochemistry and Biophysics and Economics from Yale University. He earned his medical degree at the University of Toledo School of Medicine in Ohio and subsequently returned to Yale University to train in Orthopaedic Surgery. He received fellowship training in Spine and Scoliosis Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. He has also completed the AOA/USC APEX Leadership Program through the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business.Dr. Essig is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society, AO Spine, and the Scoliosis Research Society. Dr. Essig was also elected by his peers to the American Orthopaedic Association, a prestigious national society for leadership. He currently serves on the AOA Own the Bone (OTB) Education Subcommittee, and is an active member of the Spinopelvic Study Group. He has been an invited reviewer for multiple journals, and is currently on the editorial board of the Asian Journal of Spine. He has multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals, along with multiple presentations at prestigious spine society meetings. He also serves as a spine consultant for the New York Islanders. He has been recognized as a Castle Connelly Top Doctor as well as a Super Doctor in the NY Times.

Dr. Rokito is the Division Chief of Sports Medicine in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Northwell Health. He is the physician leader of the Sports Medicine Executive Committee for Northwell Health.
