Haekang Yang, DPM is a board-certified podiatrist who diagnoses and treats an array of foot and ankle problems surgically and/or non-surgically. In addition to treating foot and ankle trauma cases and dermatological and musculoskeletal problems (for example: fracture, bunion, ingrown toenail, arthritis, heel pain, etc.), Dr. Yang sees diabetic patients to check their vascular, neurological, dermatological, and musculoskeletal conditions of their feet to prevent possible amputation. He is skilled at providing wound care as well as performing surgical procedures such as bunionectomy, hammer toe corrections, flat foot reconstruction, plantar fascia release, and more.As a doctor, he chooses to make a difference in peoples lives every day, and finds that greatly rewarding. His approach to treatment is treating every patient like your own family member. He takes great care to explain what problems patients have and various treatment options. I explain all the options with risks, side effects, alternatives, and benefits, he says, and allows them to choose their own treatment option taking into consideration his advice.After completing his surgical residency at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, a level one trauma center, Dr. Yang saw many traumas and emergent cases, some of which were preventable. He places great importance on educating the community to prevent as many of these tragedies as possible.Dr. Yang is affiliated with Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, St. Catherine of Siena Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital Bethpage, and Northwell Mather Hospital. Outside his career, Dr. Yang does weightlifting and enjoys jogging on a daily basis.
