Ken Zhao, MD - MSK Interventional Radiologist

I am an interventional radiologist, a physician who uses x-ray, CT, ultrasound, and MR images to perform procedures less invasively. I am Chief of the Interventional Radiology Service in the Department of Radiology and also director of Memorial Sloan Kettering’s new Center for Image-Guided Intervention (CIGI). At CIGI, multiple imaging modalities and multiple disciplines will be combined to develop and apply new image-guided cancer therapies.

As an interventional radiologist, I perform minimally invasive image-guided procedures using x-ray, CT scan, ultrasound, PET scan, and MRI technologies. These procedures include percutaneous biopsies, venous access (such as mediport placement), arterial embolization, and thermal ablation. As a doctor at Memorial Sloan Kettering, my primary responsibility is to provide excellent, safe, and compassionate care for my patients who are living with cancer, or who may be facing a cancer diagnosis.

I am a board-certified radiologist with special training in breast imaging. I feel privileged to support people throughout their cancer journey and prioritize clear communication, compassion, and timely care. I see patients at Memorial Sloan Kettering Nassau on Long Island and the Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center in New York City.
