Presenting transportation history of the area, the New York Museum of Transportation features a vintage electric trolley ride that recreates the interurban era of a century ago. In addition, the museum buildings house trolley cars, a steam locomotive, highway and horse drawn vehicles, several model railroads, the Midtown Plaza Monorail, and numerous exhibits of smaller artifacts relating to land transportation. A gallery presents images of rail and trolley history and features a short film about the Rochester Subway. The museum is open late May through October and again for special events for the Christmas holidays.
