Tyler, MD, MPH specializes in the treatment of benign and malignant tumors of the bones and soft tissues in patients of all ages. As a musculoskeletal oncologist, Dr. Tylers practice is focused on the non-operative and operative management of primary soft tissue and bone cancers, sarcomas, and metastatic bone cancer. Dr. Tylers goal is to provide compassionate surgical care that achieves cure of cancer whenever possible by leveraging the latest advances in non-operative management, minimally invasive, and reconstructive surgical techniques. When cure is not possible she strives to achieve pain control and improve function as best as possible for every patient.Dr. Tyler earned her medical degree from The John Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she also received a masters degree in public health. She went on to complete residency training in orthopedic surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery, followed by a fellowship in musculoskeletal oncology at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.As an active physician scientist, Dr. Tylers research interests overlap with her clinical practice and center around the treatment of patients with bone and soft tissue tumors and conditions that lead to osteolysis (bone destruction as a result of implant wear and loosening or presence of a tumor). She has written medical journal articles on several bone diseases, the effectiveness of medication in penetrating to the site of bone grafts, and the strength of the bone and prosthesis union.

Anna Penn, MD, PhD, a leading clinical neonatologist and developmental neuroscientist, coined the term neuroplacentology and has pioneered research on this topic, which examines the influence of the placenta on fetal brain development. She also studies sex differences in perinatal brain injury. Dr. Penn was previously an associate professor of pediatrics at George Washington University School of Medicine and an attending neonatologist at Childrens National Hospital in Washington, D.C. with appointments in the Fetal Medicine Institute, Neonatology, and the Center for Neuroscience Research. She received an AB from Harvard-Radcliffe College and her MD and PhD degrees from Stanford University School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency in pediatrics at the University of California San Francisco and a fellowship in neonatology at Stanford University. Dr. Penn is a past recipient of a National Institutes of Health Directors New Innovator Award and maintains a grant-funded research laboratory. She also served as the director of membership for the Society of Pediatric Research for six years, working to support and improve the pipeline for physician-scientists.
