Dr. Noor Ahmad is board certified in diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology. He is an associate professor of radiology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center and an attending radiologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Ahmad serves as vice chair of clinical operations for the Department of Radiology. Dr. Ahmad has expertise in performing minimally invasive procedures to manage and treat a wide array of clinical conditions ranging from cancer care to men’s and women’s health. His particular focus and interests are in the treatment of blood clots within legs (deep venous thrombosis) and lungs (pulmonary embolism). Related to this, Dr. Ahmad is an expert in complex removal of inferior vena cava (IVC) filters. Rounding out his practice, Dr. Ahmad performs a wide range of procedures for cancer and non-cancer pain which include image-guided joint injections, blocks, and ablations. Finally, Dr. Ahmad has expertise in performing knee embolizations for both recurrent bleeding and osteoarthritis. Prior to medical school, Dr. Ahmad was a bioengineer and performed research within a tissue engineering laboratory. After medical school and radiology training at New York Medical College, where he served as chief resident, Dr. Ahmad received his training in vascular and interventional radiology at Weill Cornell Medical College and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Ahmad is an active teacher of fellows, residents, and medical students and has authored numerous book chapters and research articles. In addition, he has presented nationwide and is a member in several radiology societies including the Society of Interventional Radiology and Radiologic Society of North America.

His contributions to the medical community have been recognized with various honors, including the Editor's Award for Outstanding Clinical Research at the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) 2017 Annual Scientific Meeting and the Burton Drayer Prize in Radiology and Imaging from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Posham served as chief resident in the Integrated Interventional and Diagnostic Radiology Residency at Mount Sinai Hospital. He holds an MD with Distinction in Research from the prestigious Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Additionally, he earned an MPA with a specialization in health services management from New York University's Robert F. Christopher S. In addition, Dr. Ahmad serves as Vice Chair of Faculty Affairs for the Columbia University Department of Orthopedic Surgery. Dr. Ahmad earned an undergraduate degree in engineering while playing 4 years of Division 1 varsity soccer at nationally ranked Columbia University. He lives in Manhattan with his wife and three children.
