Major objectives include protecting and promoting the rights of M/C employees and obtaining equity for them in working conditions, compensation and benefit matters. One of our most important functions is advocating the interests of our members at the Governor's Office, the office of Employee Relations, the Budget, at other state agencies, the Legislature and the Courts. OMCE on September 2, 1999 affiliated with OPEIU Local #153 AFL-CIO ( Office and Professional Employees International Union. ) OMCE is an active member of the AFL-CIO Public Employees Pension Task Force and Taylor Law Task Force. OMCE Standing Committees Finance and Personnel oversees the financial affairs of OMCE and recommends OMCE staff personnel policies to the Board. Grievance & Legal Defense reviews employment related problems, grievances submitted by members and makes recommendations to the Board regarding items that may warrant intervention by Legal Counsel. Legislative Action develops and monitors OMCE legislative agenda reviews and develops positions on proposed legislation that would affect M/C employees. Works closely with lobbyists on developing member legislative action program. Nominating recruits and recommends potential candidates to fill vacancies on the Board of Directors.
