Sagtikos Manor is an historic house museum in Bay Shore, NY and is on the National Register of Historic Houses. The first addition of the Manor was built in 1697 by Stephanus Van Cortlandt, then mayor of New York City. Then an additional 13 rooms were added on in 1772 by Isaac and Mary Gardiner Thompson. The last addition to the Manor was added on in 1902 by Frederick Diodati Thompson to increase it to 42 rooms. Generations of the Thompson Family had ownership of the Manor for over 200 years. All the furnishings, artwork, clothing and other pieces are all family owned and on display in the house. On the 10 acre grounds of Sagtikos is the buttery (Colonial), walled garden, Thompson Family Cemetery and carriage house. In the 1900s walled garden there is a peacock fountain in the center surrounded by an herb garden, peony paths and a grapevine arbor. House tours of the Manor are given during the spring/summer season as well as other special events and tours , and programs.
