Dr. Najjar diagnosed Ms. Cahalan with a rare autoimmune disease in which the body was attacking her brain. This illness is now thought to have been the cause of "demonic possessions" throughout history.In addition, Dr. Najjar has been featured in several nationally syndicated broadcast interviews including TLC's "Mystery Diagnosis," NBC-TV's "Today" show and ABC-TV's "Katie Couric Show." Dr. Goldman is a fellowship trained, orthopedic trauma surgeon. His practice specializes in surgical and nonoperative management of fractures. Dr. Goldman treats fractures from the shoulder to the wrist in the upper extremity and from the pelvis to the foot. Dr. Goldman provides the highest level of musculoskeletal fracture care due to his training, experience and clinical skill. His advanced training allows him to often perform fracture fixation through less-invasive techniques allowing for better outcomes and faster recovery. Through his extensive knowledge in fracture biology, surgical intervention can sometimes be avoided, and biologic techniques implemented. Dr. Goldman has won Teacher of the Year award seven times from his graduating residents and is a 5-time Northwell Truly Award Nominee.As Associate Chairperson for the orthopedic department, Dr. Goldman handles the day-to-day administration of the department. His duties include clinical resource allocation, quality improvement, resident education, budget oversight, program development, and managing relationships with other clinical departments and hospital administration. Dr. Goldman also oversees all aspects of fracture care in the orthopedic department as Chief of Orthopedic Trauma. Along with clinical practice, administrative and quality improvement duties, Dr. Goldman is responsible for the direction of residents and medical students in orthopedic trauma education and research. Dr. Goldman also functions as the orthopedic liaison to the Trauma Committees at NSUH and CCMC and current orthopedic director of the Geriatric/Orthopedic Co-management Program (GOCo) at LIJ, Forrest Hills, Huntington, and Valley Stream. Outside of his duties at Northwell, he is the only orthopedist to sit on the NY State Trauma Advisory Committee.
