Bem Atim, M.D.
Dr. Bem Atim is an Assistant Attending Psychiatrist and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine. He earned his M.D. from Weill Cornell Medical College. He then completed his psychiatry residency at New York University School of Medicine, where he served as chief resident in his last year, and then subsequently completed a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Atim then worked as an inpatient attending psychiatrist at NYU Tisch Hospital, on a voluntary-only unit treating patients with acute psychiatric conditions. In 2021, he became the unit chief and medical director of this unit. In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Atim was an active educator: he joined the undergraduate medical education team as the Associate Clerkship Director of Psychiatry, and earned numerous teaching awards during his tenure at NYU both in resident and medical student education.

Timothy David Becker, M.D.
Dr. Becker completed his undergraduate degree at Cornell University and medical school at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He subsequently completed his adult psychiatry residency at the Mount Sinai Hospital, where he participated in clinical and educational initiatives through the global mental health track. He then completed a clinical fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at NewYork-Presbyterian’s combined program at Weill Cornell Medicine and Columbia University, an NIMH R25-supported Shaffer Scholars research fellowship, and served as a chief fellow for research in his final year. His research has focused on child and adolescent psychiatric epidemiology, development of stigma interventions and synthesis of clinical evidence. Dr. Becker is a member of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), where he is involved with development of clinical practice guidelines in child psychiatry as an active member of the Committee on Quality Issues.

Evelyn Attia, M.D.
Dr. Attia received her A.B. from Princeton University in 1982 and her MD from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in 1986. Formerly the director of the inpatient eating disorders program at The New York State Psychiatric Institute, Dr. Attia has more recently focused on research involving the psychobiology and treatment of anorexia nervosa. Since 1999, she has received uninterrupted funding for her research from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). Dr. Attia has received a Young Investigator Award from The National Alliance for Research in Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD), a Pfizer/Society for Women’s Health Research Faculty Development Award in Women’s Health, and a Career Development Award from NIMH. Dr. Attia is a member of the eating disorders work-group for DSM-5. She is also a member of The Eating Disorders Research Society and has been elected Fellow of the Academy for Eating Disorders.
