The Arnold Companies

In 1929 Elmer J. Goetz founded the Elmer J. Goetz Oil Corporation. His corporation was a key distributor for American Oil Company, which was founded in Baltimore in 1910. When Elmer J. Goetz passed away, ownership of the corporation was passed to his brother, Carl H. Goetz. In 1942, Leonard B. Schintzius purchased equity in the Elmer J. Goetz Oil Corporation. AMOCO purchased a majority of the assets of the corporation in 1954, but certain segments were retained by Carl H. Goetz and Leonard B. Schintzius. A new corporation, Goetz Oil Corporation, was formed at this time. With the passing of Carl H. Goetz in 1960, and Leonard B. Schintzius in 1971, the Schintzius family members continue to operate the business as of this date. In 1988, the name was changed from Goetz Oil Corporation to Goetz Energy Corporation to fully recognize the expanded product offerings of the business.

National Fuel Gas Company sells or transports natural gas to more than 732,000 customers through a local distribution system located in western New York and northwestern Pennsylvania. The company s assets are distributed among six business segments including exploration and production, pipeline and storage, utility and international energy markets. The Empire State Pipeline, a 157-mile natural gas transmission pipeline running from an interconnection with TransCanada Pipeline near Buffalo to Syracuse, N.Y., began operation in 1993. These utilities and power producers, in turn, supply more than one million customers with energy. In addition, Empire provides interstate transportation to several interstate pipelines in the same geographic area. National Fuel Resources is engaged in the marketing and brokerage of natural gas and electricity and the performance of energy management services for industrial, commercial, public authority and residential end-users throughout the northeast United States. Horizon Energy Development, Inc. engages in foreign energy projects through the investment of its indirect subsidiaries as the sole or substantial owner of various business entities.

American Lubricants, a subsidiary of Battenfeld Grease & Oil of New York, was founded in 1972. The company offers lubrication materials such as food processing lubricants, industrial lubricants, metal working lubricants, industrial oils and synthetics. It manufactures automotive and fleet products, off-road construction products and railroad products. American Lubricants offers services such as bulk delivery of oils and grease, in-house laboratory, chemical management, product development and lubrication engineering. It is an authorized distributor of Texaco, Penetone, Chevron, Castrol Heavy Duty Industrial, Quaker Chemical, Sun, Kendall and Summit Industrial. The company is QS-9000 and ISO 9001 registered and Ford Q1 certified. American Lubricants is headquartered in Buffalo, N.Y.
