So, after five years of innkeeping, we decided to sell the inn and concentrate on the vacation rental home business. We formed Distinctive Mountain Lodging, a property management firm specializing in vacation rental homes. We now manage numerous vacation rental homes which are sprinkled throughout the scenic Hickory Nut Gorge, which consists of the towns of Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, Bat Cave and Gerton ; and all are unique and special in some way. While we are licensed real estate brokers, our firm's sole focus is the management of vacation rental homes. This means that our interests are not divided between renting vacation homes and selling property. All of our time, energy and talents are directed toward helping our guests choose the vacation rental home that best meets their needs. In 2008, Sallie Smith, also a licensed real estate broker, joined our firm and has enabled us to grow and add additional homes to our rental program. Our staff of meticulous housekeepers and dedicated maintenance personnel helps keep the homes in tip top shape. Working closely with local major attractions, such as Chimney Rock State Park and Lake Lure Tours, enables us to offer the best of mountain lake vacations. Our check-in office is located in the Coldwell Banker Quarters Real Estate Building near the Lake Lure Marina.
