The Housing/Neighborhood Development Department of Winston Salem, N.C., develops housing and neighborhood revitalization plans and programs. It provides various financing options for the purchase of newly constructed homes in redevelopment areas and in city-assisted subdivisions. The department also administers local and federally funded housing and community development programs that are administered by the city departments and other public and nonprofit agencies. Additionally, it seeks other governmental funds through competitive applications. Its infrastructure and site development services include construction and improvement of streets, sidewalks, utilities, parks and open spaces. The department s staff includes project supervisors, program development specialists and planning coordinators.
