Jacqueline Schiwek, MD

I chose to become a physician assistant in obstetrics and gynecology because I support women and advocate for their needs throughout important milestones in their lives. I enjoy making patients feel empowered and educated so we can work together to improve their health. I value shared decision making with patients and the relationships that are created along the way. Prior to coming to UNC, I worked in a family planning clinic in Los Angeles, CA. In my free time, I enjoy exploring North Carolina with my husband and dog, hiking, and running.

I became a doctor to help others who are in need. My approach to care is to do anything I can to promote healing and lift the human spirit. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with family and traveling.

During my time in Physician Assistant (PA) school, my grandmother suffered a stroke, which inspired my passion for helping patients in similar situations. I thrive in both acute care and outpatient settings, finding fulfillment in witnessing patient progress over time. I am dedicated to treating patients and their families with the same care and compassion as I would my own family.
