Melissa Ann Hession, MD

My goal as a physician assistant is to treat my patients as a whole by incorporating preventive medicine, disease and illness treatment, and helping them to plan for a healthy tomorrow. I want to have a collaborative relationship with my patients so that we may work as a team to improve quality of life and overall wellness.

I chose to become a social worker and clinician because I believe that everyone deserves the right to live, not just survive. I’m honored to be able to sit with people in their darkest times and support them as they become the best version of themselves. I show up to every session as my real, authentic self – that’s so important to create a genuine connection. When I’m not at work, I like to sing and try out new recipes on my family and friends. I also enjoy cuddling up with my dog on the couch, and cheering on the Carolina Hurricanes.
