Susan Hopkins, PA-C

I became a nurse practitioner to advance my nursing practice and make a greater impact on enhancing our community’s health through preventive care, health promotion and healthcare delivery. I partner with patients and my clinical team to provide high-quality, compassionate, and innovative care. I build rapport and empower patients and families to be active participants in their care. I strive to provide whole-person centered care and creating an individualized treatment plan by listening to patients’ concerns and identifying their goals and motivation for health promotion. As a nurse practitioner, I deliver holistic care with a focus on prevention and patient education. When I am not at work, I enjoy being outside biking, running and playing ice hockey. I am grateful to travel with my husband and family, watch college football, and bake chocolate chip cookies.

I’ve enjoyed being a physician assistant because I get to spend time meeting new people and being involved in their care. My approach to patient care is working with the patient to make medically informed decisions to improve their quality of life. Prior to being in GI, I worked in primary care for several years with a special interest in preventative medicine. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family traveling and trying new foods.
