Belco Works, founded as Belco Crafts in 1966, is a nonprofit organization that provides employment to people with mental handicaps and other developmental disabilities. More than 300 adults are employed in the modern and light industrial plant in Saint Clairsville, Ohio, providing packaging, assembly and document destruction services. It specializes in pre-cut pallet lumber for all types of businesses as well as survey stakes and other wood products. Only top grades of hardwoods like oak, cherry and walnut are used. Belco Works also provides outdoor advertising benches located throughout Belmont County. The organization s employees paint the corporate logo and information on the wooden bench backs that are then attached to solid, concrete bases and placed in strategic locations in the local area.
