I'm a musculoskeletal surgical oncologist specializing in the treatment of benign and malignant bone and soft tissue tumors in pediatric and adult patients. In addition, I treat patients with metastatic bone disease and other cancer treatment-related musculoskeletal conditions. I have the unique privilege of working with a diverse and inspiring patient population. Their kindness, compassion and resilience drive me to advance the field in order to improve patient outcome believe that a patient's diagnosis doesn't define who they are; instead, a patient's goals and lifestyle must play a critical role in developing a treatment approach. Together, we will formulate a treatment strategy that strives to optimize cancer-related outcomes and quality of lif n regards to research, early on in my medical career I was drawn to research investigating ways to harness the reparative potential of periosteum (outer sleeve around bones) to improve limb-salvage outcomes. Although this area of focus remains, it influenced me to take a broader approach to cancer care and view my practice from a perspective of constantly looking for ways to improve patient outcomes and experience. This has led me down many paths - from research focused on surgical techniques to improve postamputation pain, to the influence of health care policy and treatment strategies on bone cancer outcome 've had phenomenal mentors along the way who inspired me to pursue a career in orthopedic oncology. Throughout medical school, residency and fellowship, these mentors demonstrated compassionate, patient-centered care and an endless drive to make advances in the field of sarcoma that I try to emulate today. On top of that, the team's family mentality allows for invaluable communication and close collaboration in patient car n my free time, I enjoy cycling, cooking, walking our dogs, hiking and traveling.
