Enter the office of Dr. Jason Kurian and you won’t see the research articles he’s had published or a lot of certifications on the wall. You will see photos of young athletes he’s treated. “That’s what’s important to us,” he says. “We have this unique setting where we’re all fellowship trained and highly trained individuals but our focus is on the community. That’s really what we’re proud of.” Born and raised in Milwaukee, Dr. Kurian graduated from University of Michigan before attending medical school in Wisconsin and residency training in Ohio. He completed a one-year sports medicine fellowship studying shoulder, knee and hip arthroscopy and shoulder reconstruction at the Southern California Orthopedic Institute in Los Angeles and has performed hundreds of procedures to treat conditions such as severe knee and shoulder arthritis, torn rotator cuffs, shoulder instabilities and ACL’s. A former triathlete who has competed in the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii, Dr. Kurian is in tune to evolving expectations of elite and recreational athletes. He serves as the physician for Aloha High sports teams and treats patients of all ages. “My goal is to have you live a lifestyle that is fulfilling for you,” says the father of two. “We all need balance in our lives and if you start losing that balance because of an injury, it’s important to get it back.”

Orthopedic medicine has its early roots in the correction and prevention of deformity. Dr. Kimberly Workman had her first exposure to orthopedic surgery at a very young age, when she lived abroad in a third-world country where her father was helping to establish an orthopedic clinic at a local hospital. There, she saw many people with acute traumatic injuries, congenital deformities, and post-traumatic deformities due to untreated trauma. “Seeing my dad work with his patients to improve their functional ability and quality of life sparked my interest in orthopedics,” she states. During her orthopedic training, her interest became focused on the lower extremity, particularly foot and ankle problems, lower extremity trauma and deformity, and treatment for knee and ankle arthritis. Dr. Workman believes that, “each patient has a unique story and their orthopedic ailments affect their lives in different ways.” She tells her patients, “I don’t treat x-rays, I treat the person. I enjoy listening to and getting to know my patients and developing a personalized plan with them to help them get back on their feet!” Dr. Workman is a board-certified, orthopedic surgeon with extensive sub-specialty training in foot & ankle, focusing primarily on lower extremity trauma, limb lengthening, deformity reconstruction, ankle arthritis, and ring fixator surgery. Additionally, her area of practice includes both simple and complex total knee replacements, total ankle replacements, and general orthopedics.
