Class size ranges from 14-18 students, led by a Head Teacher ( holding a degree in early childhood education ) and a Teaching Assistant.The daily schedule includes a variety of well-planned activities focusing on the group needs of the children. Art, music, building, dramatic play, science, listening centers, computers and other academic readiness activities are part of a typical day. Emphasis is place on learning by doing, and children are continually involved in first-hand experiences. The class size is limited to 24 students, taught by a Head Teacher ( holding a degree in early childhood and/or elementary education ) and a Teaching Assistant.Our Kindergarten curriculum includes: the Lippincott Letter Books, utilizing a total language arts approach and has a strong phonetic base ; the MacMillan/McGraw-Hill Kindergarten Math Series ; the Betty Lukens Bible curriculum ; as well as various science and social studies materials. Art and physical activity ( informal and directed ) are a part of every day. Student have a special Gym class weekly. Music is used daily throughout the curriculum, but is taught once a week by a music specialist. Indian Valley Kindergarten strives to meet the growth and developmental needs of the whole child.
