Maryam Zulfiqar, MD

Dr. Ganesh is a pulmonologist and critical care specialist who is skilled in the diagnosis of lung cancer, central airway tumors, airway stenosis, and lung nodules. She utilizes flexible and rigid bronchoscopy, ultrasound (EBUS), endobronchial valves, and stents as part of her thorough patient evaluations. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Ganesh is an experienced educator who has most recently served as an instructor for the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine at The University of Alabama at Birmingham in Alabama. She attended Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, a part of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, in Sawangi, India. Her residency was completed at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Ganesh completed two fellowships, one in pulmonary/critical care and the other in interventional pulmonology, which were earned at University of Arizona, in Tucson, Arizona and The University of Alabama at Birmingham, respectively. Dr. Ganesh is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in both Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care. Patients can be seen in Wexford or at Allegheny General Hospital.

Stephen Samples, MD Stephen Samples, MD is the department chair of neurology at AHN and a neurologist with AHN Neuroscience Institute. He is skilled at headache and migraine, as well as diagnosing and treating diseases of the brain, spinal cord, and nerves. Dr. Samples went to medical school at University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas. He did his residency and his fellowship in headache at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland Ohio. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and is a member of the American Headache Society and the American Academy of Neurology. His various research and publications have helped better the field of neurology. He sees patients ages 18 and older.

Nestor D. Tomycz, MD Nestor D. Tomycz graduated from Harvard College summa cum laude in chemistry in 2001 and obtained his M.D. from Harvard Medical School in 2005. He completed his neurosurgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 2012 with a one-year inter-residency stereotactic/functional neurosurgery fellowship at Allegheny General Hospital. He joined the faculty at Allegheny General Hospital in 2012 and has focused his practice on chronic pain, deep brain stimulation for movement disorders, peripheral nerve stimulation, cancer pain, and spine. He is currently the Director of Neurosurgical Pain Division and Director of Stereotactic/Functional Neurosurgery at Allegheny General Hospital. He is also Chief of Neurosurgery at St. Clair Hospital in the south hills of Pittsburgh. Dr. Tomycz is actively involved in clinical research involving deep brain stimulation, spinal cord stimulation, dorsal root ganglion stimulation, and spinal fusion. He is currently leading an FDA-approved IDE study of DBS for opioid use disorder as well as a collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University on burst-type DBS for Parkinson’s disease. Dr. Tomycz has published more than 65 peer-reviewed manuscripts and has been active in professional societies including ASSFN, NANS, and ASPN.
