Welcome to Service Wholesale Incorporated, better known as SWI. We are a distributor of building and remodeling materials. SWI first opened in 1987, and was purchased by the Schmidt family in 1995. Our general business is direct sales to contractors, builders, lumber yards, other distributors, and to the do-it-yourself homeowner. We pride ourselves in having the best service and product offering in the area. Given the wide variety of suppliers we have access to, chances are if we don't have an item in stock we can order it for you. If we have no access we will gladly tell you who does. Eric and Matthew Schmidt would like to dedicate this web site to our father, Stephen T. Schmidt. Steve passed away March of 2009. We value the business knowledge and customer value that he instilled in us. Steve's experience was extensive throughout the building materials industry. Throughout most of his life, Steve worked for manufacturers as well as various distributors. He worked for CertainTeed in the insulation division, roofing division, and then the newly formed vinyl division. He quickly rose to become the Western sales manager, and then was transferred to Pennsylvania to become the Eastern sales manager. In the early 80's wanting to spend more time at home, Steve took a job with a local distributor becoming Branch Manager of Quality Roofing New Castle DE. In 1992 Steve opened the Seaford branch for Quality and managed both branches. Steve left quality in 1993 to work for Service Wholesale. In 1995 Steve, Eric, and Matt purchased Service Wholesale from the original owner who wanted to pursue other interests.
