It provides services to patients in various departments, such as radiology, radiation oncology, interventional radiology, nuclear medicine and medical physics. Its division, American College of Radiology Imaging Network, is a cooperative group that manages clinical trials of imaging technologies related to cancer. It provides a complete infrastructure for multiinstitutional clinical trials of imaging and related disciplines applied to cancer with support from the National Cancer Institute. It facilitates the development and implementation of trials, data acquisition and management, protocol design and biostatistical analysis, monitoring and quality assurance, financial management and reporting of trials results.
