The office protects children from abuse and neglect, offers children's welfare services and ensures access to community-based care. In addition, it offers nursing care, emergency management, human services, and community and economic development. The Lehigh County Office of Children and Youth Services offers educational programs and risk assessment through a comprehensive ecological approach. The office assesses family functioning with regard to specific physical, behavioral, psychological and environmental factors that are determined to correlate with child abuse and neglect. It maintains an office in Allentown, Pa.

The Lehigh County Office of Aging and Adult Services is a city department that offers in-home and case assessment and management services. The department provides individual protection services against abuse, neglect, exploitation and abandonment. It also offers home modification and support services. In addition, the Lehigh County Office of Aging and Adult Services provides job training and placement. The department s home modification program offers household repair services. Located in Allentown, Pa., the Lehigh County Office of Aging and Adult Services organizes field trips and provides therapy sessions. The department offers nursing supervision, assistance and counseling services. It is a part of the Department of Human Services, which provides early intervention and drug and alcohol prevention services.
