The Miquon School is a Progressive elementary school for 3 year olds - 6th grade located in Conshohocken, PA near Northwest Philadelphia. Miquon is designed to be a small school for young children, and it was founded in the rich tradition of Progressive education in 1932. The Miquon School prepares children for the future by developing creative problem solvers, confident leaders and socially responsible individuals who have a clear sense of self. Miquon’s unique, natural environment is an ideal setting for students to develop independence and agency. At our school in the woods, children engage in hands-on learning and are developing social, emotional and intellectual skills at their individual pace. On our ten acre campus, students and teachers work together in mixed-grade classes with approximately 20 students and 2 teachers in a class. All students get access to 6 specialists every week - art, library, music, PE, science, and Spanish. Need-based scholarships are available and 40% of students receive financial aid. Our recently re-written mission statement is “A beacon of Progressive Education, Miquon celebrates childhood, cultivates a love of learning, and inspires children to advocate and care for themselves, each other, and the world.”
