Dr. Christopher E. Gross is a Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery currently serving as the Director of the Foot and Ankle Division and Fellowship Director at the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed a fellowship at Duke University Medical Center in Foot and Ankle Orthopaedic Surgery after completing his residency training at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He graduated from Harvard Medical School. As an orthopaedic foot and ankle surgeon, Dr. Gross is interested in complex reconstruction of the ankle in addition to cartilage injuries that range from small defects to end-stage ankle arthritis. With his partner Dr. Scott, he has developed a multidisciplinary research division by harnessing the power of artificial intelligence, improved implant design, and long-term patient outcomes. He is the author of over 90 published journal articles, 30 textbook chapters, and is the editor/author of a textbook about Foot and Ankle Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Matthew K. Stein is an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in total hip and knee replacement surgery. He is a fellowship-trained adult reconstructive surgeon with expertise in total hip arthroplasty, total knee arthroplasty, partial knee replacement and revision procedures for both the hip and knee. Dr. Stein's journey in medicine began at Georgetown University, where he earned a Master of Science in Biophysics & Physiology before completing his Doctor of Medicine degree also at Georgetown. He then completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Following his residency, he pursued advanced fellowship training in Adult Reconstruction at Duke University Hospital. Throughout his career, Dr. Stein has been dedicated to improving patient care and advancing the field of orthopaedic surgery. He has been recognized for his research including multiple awards. His work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, covering a range of topics from hip fracture care and joint infection to resident leadership training and the mental health of orthopaedic surgeons. He has also been an editor for The University of Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Journal. Dr. Stein's commitment to leadership is evident in his experience as an Inaugural Resident for the McNulty Leadership Program at Wharton and his participation in the Wharton Leadership Program in Orthopaedic Surgery multiple times. He has also given lectures on topics such as cemented prostheses, implant design, and leadership. His diverse experience and commitment to leadership and research demonstrate his dedication to providing the best possible care for his patients.
