The source of water for CPW is Lake Greenwood. In all of the USA, only six water treatment plants have successfully completed all four phases of the Partnership for Safe Water program and received the Excellence in Water Treatment Award. Greenwood CPW is dedicated to producing and delivering the best quality of drinking water possible for its customers.Natural Gas -Greenwood CPW safely delivers natural gas to over 17,500 customers in Greenwood, Greenville, Abbeville, Laurens, and Anderson Counties through its distribution network of 770 miles of natural gas pipeline.Natural gas is the cleanest burning, and most environmentally friendly, of the fossil fuels. More than ninety percent of the natural gas used in the United States is produced in the United States (with some natural gas imported from Canada). This abundant, clean, domestically-produced natural resource is a more cost effective way to fuel your appliances. Generally, natural gas equipment is easier to maintain and repair, and lasts longer than similar electric appliances, thus providing lower maintenance costs.Electricity -The Electric Distribution System operates primarily within the corporate limits of the City of Greenwood. The System includes five substations and approximately 200 miles of line. We provide electrical services to more than 11,000 customers including the award winning Self Regional Healthcare System, Lander University, the Jeff May Athletic Complex, Wesley Commons Retirement Community, Greenwood Rehabilitation Hospital, and most City and County buildings as well as other businesses and restaurants. The Electric Division also provides security lighting for the City of Greenwood and other customers at affordable monthly fees.
