Cyrus Ali Feizpour, MD

Benjamin Stone, MD is a urologic cancer surgeon who specializes in the management of kidney cancer, prostate cancer, bladder cancer, testicular cancer, and other cancers of the genitourinary system. Dr. Stone graduated from Princeton University and received his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medicine with election to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed urologic surgery residency training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and received advanced fellowship training in urologic oncology at Harvard Medical School. His surgical practice focuses on the management of urologic cancers using advanced, minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic techniques in addition to traditional open surgery. He has published numerous peer-reviewed scientific articles and textbook chapters, and his research interests include improving disparities in access to quality care and reducing the financial burden of cancer treatment.

Dr. Sanjay Jain is amongst the new faculty members to join Medical University of South Carolina as a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine. Dr. Jain is a medical oncologist with 26 years of academic and clinical experience. He is interested in the provision of clinical services to patients that are unquestionably and unconditionally par excellence. He’s a firm believer that patient satisfaction should be a key measure of success and patient outcomes should be superior to national and international benchmarks. Dr. Jain was born in Kota, Rajasthan, India. He received his M.B., B.S. (Medicine and Surgery) from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, India, and was recognized as the best Intern at Maharao Bhim Singh Hospital. He obtained his M.S. degree and his Ph.D., both in immunology, from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. Dr. Jain’s residency training in the United States took place at Miriam Hospital, Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, and he also did a fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. Prior to coming to Medical University of South Carolina, Dr. Jain served as an Assistant Professor at Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University, Assistant Professor at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center of Harvard Medical School, Chairman of the Department of Hematology and Oncology at Tawam Hospital, in affiliation with Johns Hopkins in the United Arab Emirates, and Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University, and then most recently as an Associate Professor at Morehouse School of Medicine. He has also served as a medical oncologist and a reviewer of first-in-human trials at the Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research at the Food and Drug Administration since 2021.

Maggie Westfal, M.D., MPH, is a fellowship-trained colon and rectal surgeon specializing in both benign and malignant diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus. Clinically she is interested in colon, rectal, and anal cancer as well as benign anorectal disease, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, and rectal prolapse. From a surgical perspective, Dr. Westfal has been trained in all techniques of colon and rectal surgery but is specifically interested in minimally invasive and robotic approaches. She enjoys working with her patients to make joint patient-physician care decisions while also utilizing multi-disciplinary care teams to aid in these decisions. Dr. Westfal earned her medical degree and Master of Public Health degree at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. She remained in Boston for general surgery residency at the Massachusetts General Hospital where she spent three years performing clinical outcomes research and implementing the research skills that she acquired during her public health studies. Her research interests include early onset colorectal cancer, including patients with both hereditary and non-hereditary disease. She completed her training in colon and rectal surgery at Barnes Jewish Hospital/Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Westfal is a member of several surgical societies, including the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association and the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. Her research has been presented at several national meetings for these and other societies. She led several trainee wellbeing councils throughout her training and remains passionate about improving the well-being of trainees across all specialties. Outside of work, Dr. Westfal enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She was a former two-sport varsity athlete at Yale University and enjoys following both the women's soccer and ice hockey teams. A life-long east coaster, she enjoys vacationing at the beach. When time permits, she loves to bake and enjoys making chocolate chip cookies and chocolate chip banana bread for friends and family.
