Claiming South Carolina as home since his youth, it would seem all roads bring Dr. Mathew Wooster back to the charming Lowcountry. Leaving home originally for college at Duke University he returned briefly to complete medical school at MUSC, venturing off again to the University of South Florida where he completed his integrated vascular surgery residency. He now returns to work alongside the very mentors who introduced him to vascular surgery while a medical student at MUSC. Throughout his training, Dr. Wooster has been involved in complex endovascular aortic repair research, as well as participating routinely in the areas of prosthetic graft infections, multi-time redo peripheral bypasses, endovascular limb salvage, and last chance dialysis access creation. In addition to clinical pursuits, Dr. Wooster has been rigorously involved in education serving as a resident member of multiple sub-committees with the Association of Program Directors of Vascular Surgery.Dr. Wooster's clinical interests and training include the breadth of vascular surgical techniques with a special passion for aortic pathology, cerebrovascular disease, and lower extremity limb salvage. Academically, he looks forward to bringing the strong simulation curriculum he was part of in residency to MUSC, improving knowledge about the field among the general public through community outreach, and contributing to the broadening of clinical trial enrollment at the medical university to be able to offer patients access to cutting edge technologic advances.

Michael A. Sugarman, Ph.D., ABPP is a clinical neuropsychologist and assistant professor within the Department of Neurology at MUSC. He earned his doctorate in clinical psychology from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI and completed internship and postdoctoral training at the VAMC in Bedford, MA, in conjunction with the Alzheimer's Disease Center at Boston University. He is board-certified in Clinical Neuropsychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. Dr. Sugarman currently completes neuropsychological evaluations within the Department of Neurology for conditions including traumatic brain injury, stroke, or suspected dementia. In particular, his clinical efforts are focused on patients with epilepsy, including pre-surgical evaluations for refractory cases under consideration for resective procedures. He is available to see patients at Rutledge Tower and the East Cooper Medical Pavilion in Mt. Pleasant.

Robert F. Labadie, M.D., Ph.D. is an otolaryngologist, also known as an ear, nose, and throat doctor, who specializes in treatment of ear diseases and has a passion for cochlear implants which are implantable, electronic devices which restore hearing to patients with certain forms of deafness. In addition to being a medical doctor, Dr. Labadie has a Ph.D. in bioengineering and has used that skill set to design and perform studies to improve outcomes for patients with cochlear implants. A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he went to college at the University of Notre Dame where he studied mechanical engineering and returned home to do both his M.D. and Ph.D. at the University of Pittsburgh. He then completed residency in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill following which he joined the faculty at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee where he practiced for 20 years before being recruited to MUSC to become the chair of otolaryngology in January of 2022. Dr. Labadie is the author of more than 175 peer-reviewed papers, more than a dozen patents, multiple book chapters, and a textbook on image-guided surgery. He has presented his research nationally and internationally and has ongoing support from the National Institutes of Health for his research. He is a member of The American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and a fellow of The American College of Surgeons, The American Otological Society, The American Neurotology Society, The Triological Society, and the international group Collegium Oto–Rhino–Laryngologicum Amicitiae Sacrum.
