I started my career as a RN in intensive care units and emergency rooms in Virginia, Texas, Germany for the Army, and in Hawaii. I received my MSN as a Nurse Practitioner at Hawaii Pacific University and started my FNP career at Tripler Army Hospital Family Practice Clinic. I then moved to Germany and worked at Heidelberg Army Family Practice clinic and Kaiserslautern Family Practice clinic. I then moved to Charleston, SC and worked in primary care and the Pain clinic at the R. Johnson VA clinic. Here I specialized in complimentary treatment of chronic pain and became certified in dry needling and battlefield acupuncture. After earning my PhD from MUSC College of Nursing, I retired from civil service in 2020 and started teaching full time at MUSC College of Nursing in the Nurse Practitioner program. I also practiced at a private practice in Summerville. In December 2024 I returned to full time patient care at MUSC Internal Medicine and continue to teach, now as an adjunct, at the College of Nursing.
