Molly Ann Short is a pediatric nurse practitioner in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) at Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital. She earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in pediatric primary care from The Medical University of South Carolina in 2023. She is board certified as a pediatric nurse practitioner by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, she worked as a nurse in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at MUSC for over seven years, where she found her passion for pediatric cardiology. Molly loves building relationships with patients and their families through education and support while in the cardiac intensive care unit.

Sudie E Back, PhD, MS
Dr. Sudie Back received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Georgia in 2004. She completed her clinical internship training with specialization in the treatment of substance use disorders at Yale University School of Medicine (2002 through 2003). She then completed her postdoctoral training at MUSC in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (2004 through 2005). She joined the MUSC faculty in 2005 and is currently a professor and director of the NIH-sponsored Drug Abuse Research Training (DART) programs. Dr. Back is also a staff psychologist at the Ralph H. Johnson VA in the Substance Treatment and Recovery (STAR) program. Her primary research interests focus on the treatment of substance use disorders and co-occurring conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She is involved in both psychosocial/behavioral and pharmacologic treatment trials, as well as laboratory-based and neuroimaging studies. Her research is funded through NIH, the Department of Defense, and the VA. She is the prior/current recipient of a career development award (K23), several R01s, an independent scientist award (K02), and a Fulbright Scholar award (Australia). Dr. Back is actively engaged in mentoring trainees, including current/previous psychology interns, psychiatry residents, postdoctoral fellows, and junior investigators.
