Rodney G Rhinehart, MD, FACC

Originally from Chapin, South Carolina, Michael Cryer, MD, earned his medical degree at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia. He then completed both an internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at Prisma Health in the Midlands. After two more fellowships – interventional cardiology at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and structural heart in Tucson, Arizona – he returned to Columbia to practice both general cardiology and interventional cardiology. Dr. Cryer specializes in catheter-based procedures, including heart stenting for patients having heart attacks or chest pains. He also focuses on structural cardiology, where he can fix heart valves with minimally invasive procedures. He loves cardiology because of the long-term patient/physician relationship. He stays up to date on the latest technology to help his patients get better faster and makes sure they understand the issue and the “whys and hows” of treatment. Outside of work, he loves spending time with his wife and young children. He takes care of himself by running and working out.
