The Parks, Arts and Recreation Department is governed by the City of Olympia in Washington. The department offers a range of recreational services to citizens. It organizes various camps, community events, and dance, cooking and watercolor classes. The Parks, Arts and Recreation Department operates park shelters for social gatherings. It conducts sports activities, such as soccer, basketball, football, softball and volleyball. The department administers a variety of youth programs. The Parks, Arts and Recreation Department handles a range of projects and maintains more than 35 parks that are spread across an area of over 960 acres. The City of Olympia in Washington also operates fire, police, human resources, public works and administrative services departments.
