Dr. Mark Thel graduated with Distinction from the University of Virginia and cum laude from Georgetown University School of Medicine. At Georgetown, he was president of the Honor Medical Society Alpha Omega Alpha. He served his internship, internal medicine residency, cardiology fellowship, and interventional training at Duke where he was also the Chief Resident in the Department of Medicine. He received the Duke Medical School Davison Society teaching award in 1996.Dr. Thel has published more than 25 papers focusing on clinical trials in interventional cardiology. Dr. Thel participated in the United States Navy Health Professions Scholarship Program and left the Navy in 2000 as a Commander. His duty stations included General Medical Officer for Carrier Air Group Five in Atsugi, Japan, and staff cardiologist at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Thel is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology and interventional cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Shander received the American Heart Association Basic Sciences Research Award from the Chicago Chapter. He has also presented before the American Heart Associations scientific sessions and at numerous other cardiovascular research symposiums. He has been published in the Journal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, the Journal of American Physiology, the Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology, and the supplement to the American Heart Associations journal, Circulation.

Dr. Ondrej Lisy completed his internship and residency at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, MN. He also completed a cardiology fellowship with special focus on cardiovascular imaging at the Mayo Clinic. Dr. Lisy completed his internal medicine residency, clinician investigator training, and a fellowship in cardiovascular diseases and cardiac imaging at the Mayo Clinic. He received his medical degree and Ph.D. degree in cardiovascular physiology from the Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, prior to accepting the Assistant Professor of Medicine position at the Mayo Medical School. He received numerous awards while at the Mayo Clinic including the Young Investigator Award of the Heart Failure Society of America and the American College of Physicians and Donald C. Balfour Award of the Mayo Clinic Alumni Association for Meritorious Research. Dr. Lisy has been published in numerous medical journals including Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Hypertension, American Journal of Physiology and Kidney International. Dr. Lisy has been involved in cutting edge research on heart failure for many years. He designed several peptides one of which is currently in clinical trial for heart failure. Dr. Lisy has an expertise in noninvasive cardiology and imaging modalities echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and cardiac CT. Dr. Lisy is a member of the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association. Dr. Lisy is board certified in cardiology and internal medicine.
