History

Drumz has served Austin as THE World Percussion center specializing in beautiful, handmade, high quality hand drums and rhythm instruments from around the world for 13 years. Drumz is also a teaching studio in the evenings and Saturday mornings specializing in West African style hand drumming, krin classes ( log drum), and balafon . Workshops happen often in other unique instruments like didgeridoo and shekere and I mbira. Owner, Sherry Gingras, believes in the power of these instruments as healing tools and tools for empower as well as community builders and tools for peace and environmental activism. Last but not least , she sees them as instruments to bring pure joy and a connection to spirit and creativity.

Specialties

DRUMZ specializes in beautiful, artfully created and skillfully crafted world percussion instruments from around the world! We have a particular interest in West African music and instruments from West Africa and we carry exquisite, hand carved djembes, djunduns, balafons,and rhythm instruments from Africa. We also carry didgeridoos, gongs, tibetan bells, chimes,and an array of beautiful instruments used in many healing modalities here and around the world. . Our mission continues to be be a commitment to provide a unique and beautiful space for celebrating creativity, compassion, connection, and community through rhythm! And everything in life is in rhythm....it is the soul of life. We are open 11am-4pm Tuesday-Friday and noon-5pm on Saturdays!
