He was born in Galveston, Texas, to a family of medical professionals. As a young boy in Beaumont, Texas, Dr. Koch would visit his uncle's dental practice, which got him interested in a career in dentistry.Dr. Koch attended the University of Dallas and Louisiana State University before enrolling at the University of Texas, Houston. He received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery there in 1987. He worked as an associate with his uncle, Bill Cutbirth, for one year and practiced in Houston before moving to Jasper to open his current practice.While he has extensive expertise in general dentistry, Dr. Koch enjoys keeping up with the latest research and technology. A life-long learner, he has enrolled in a variety of continuing education institutions, including the Misch Implant Institute.
