Alief Independent School District, located in Houston and established in 1917, provides elementary, middle and high school academic, career and technology education. It is a consolidated school district that enrolls more than 44,000 students, and operates over 40 campuses. The district s middle and high schools curricula include English, foreign languages, history, math, science and social studies, and performing and visual arts. The district also offers courses in accounting, benefits and risk management, and special education, and technology courses, such as desktop publishing, multimedia, video technology, telecommunications networking and digital graphics and animation. Alief Independent School District also has various cafeterias and offers wellness programs.
