Melissa J. Christie, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained neurologist specializing in movement disorders. She’s trained in deep brain stimulation programming for Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, and dystonia, and in botulinum toxin injections for migraine, dystonia, hemifacial spasm, and limb spasticity. She believes in the importance of thorough patient evaluations and delivers compassionate care. Christie is an assistant professor in the Department of Neurology at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Her research interests include the genetics of Parkinson’s disease and poststroke movement disorders. She received her medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, where she also completed residency training in neurology and was chief resident. She followed this with fellowship training in movement disorders at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Christie is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She’s a member of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society.
