San Jacinto College is a two-year public community college located in Houston and serving the nearby independent school districts. Founded in 1962, it awards associate degrees, professional certificates and continuing education units. It is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It offers various courses, including behavioral sciences, English, communications, computer science, criminal justice, nursing, drama, biology, physics, psychology, sociology, business management and computer information systems. It is involved in the region through community service and internships, and through its education, nursing, and social work programs. San Jacinto College offers various sports, including men s golf and basketball and women s volleyball, basketball and softball.
