Jason Heffley, MD is a gastroenterologist at the University of Vermont Medical Center, as well as an assistant professor of medicine at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont. Dr. Heffley believes that everyone has a unique story, so he strives to gain a deep understanding of each patient’s individual needs in order to provide the best care possible. His goal is to make his patients feel safe and welcome, help them access the testing or treatment they need, and allow them to leave with more knowledge than they arrived with – whether they meet in the clinic or the endoscopy suite. Dr. Heffley performs a variety of specialized procedures, including ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound, colonoscopy, upper endoscopy (EGD) and endoscopic mucosal resection. As a clinical psychologist, I specialize in the assessment and treatment of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. I believe in building genuine relationships with my patients and their families and working together to answer diagnostic questions and establish treatment objectives. My approach to care is centered around the strengths of the patient and grounded in evidence-based practices. Throughout the assessment process, I make it a priority to listen to and understand families' perspectives and ensure that the patient's contexts, values, and preferences are considered when discussing clinical presentation, family system functioning, and intervention recommendations. Ultimately, my goal is to ensure that families are heard, respected, and understood.

Meredith Merritt is a certified nurse midwife at the University of Vermont Medical Center. She specializes in low-risk pregnancy, labor and birth, postpartum care, breastfeeding support, well-woman gynecology and contraceptive management. She finds it a privilege to be present during prenatal care, labor and birth, and is honored to partner with women during this powerful transition.
