Chesapeake Information Technology

The Department of Information Technology provides centralized and decentralized automated information systems technology services to various departments in the City of Chesapeake, as well as schools. Its communications division manages several radio and telephone systems. The department specializes in guiding and advising city departments in the use of computerized and office automation technology. The Department of Information Technology is responsible for analyzing needs and developing new information systems. It also maintains and enhances information systems through analysis, programming, design and implementation. In addition, the department assists various city offices in matters related to Federal Communications Commission compliance. The Department of Information Technology also plans, develops and maintains the infrastructure that provides data connectivity to city and school offices.
