Florence Bowser Elementary

Florence Bowser Elementary School, built in 1920, is a coeducational institution that has an annual enrollment of more than 200 students in prekindergarten through grade one. It maintains a parent-teacher association that provides planning and implementation of a variety of fundraising activities for the benefit of the school. Florence Bowser Elementary School has a staff of approximately 40 full-time certified teachers and paraprofessionals who provide academic classes in a variety of subjects, such as language arts, music, physical education, art, basic and life skills, speech, writing, reading, vocabulary and mathematics. The school has a library that offers a collection of more than 5,000 books on various topics, including animals, biographies, mysteries, fantasies, humor and adventure. Florence Bowser Elementary School, located in Suffolk, Va., is a part of Suffolk Public Schools, which provides educational services to nearly 13,900 students in over 20 schools.
