Operational for more than 100 years, The College of William and Mary is one of the oldest educational institutions in the United States. Founded by King William III and Queen Mary II, the college is located in Williamsburg, Va. Spread on more than 1,000 acres of land, it has state-of-the-art academic and athletic buildings, fully equipped science and computer laboratories, cultural and resource centers, over 500-seat auditorium, and a technology-based library. In addition to bachelor s, master s and doctoral degrees, the college provides various special programs, including alliance for graduate education in the professoriate, honors college, international education and study abroad modules, online and long-distance learning, presidential scholarships, project renaissance, transfer agreement and planning, and university in the high school programs. Its courses include liberal arts education, vocational and instrumental music, professional studies and teacher education, elementary and secondary education, reading and instructional technology, media management, and English and mathematics.
