A.C. Miller founded Miller Oil Company in 1977 when he purchased Exxon Company USA s home heating oil business in Norfolk, Va. In the 1980s, the company began its expansion into the convenience store and gasoline retailing business. Now, Miller Oil Company s subsidiaries include Miller Heating Oil, Miller Heating and Air-conditioning, Miller Commercial Fuels, Miller Marts and Miller s Neighborhood Markets. The company has more than 400 employees and has nearly 90 locations and product distributors in Virginia. Its locations are divided into three major regions including Southside, Peninsula/Williamsburg and Richmond and surrounding areas.
