Mental Health America, established in 1990 and located in Alexandria, Va., is a nonprofit organization that offers treatment for mental health and related illnesses. It provides treatment and counseling for substance abuse, developmental disabilities and depression. The organization offers treatment for prenatal disorders, birth-related injuries, brain malformation, traumatic brain injuries and severe mental infections. Its other services include counseling, personal care assistance, and drug and alcohol prevention and educational programs. It organizes a variety of programs, such as family health care, and adult and community education. The center also organizes various programs for children with child abuse and psychiatric problems. It additionally organizes camps and school programs, such as group discussions, and drug and alcohol prevention seminars. The center offers 24-hour health care services.
