The Wallingford Board of Education, with its office located in Wallingford, Conn., operates under a superintendent and an elected school education board. Its more than 15 schools in diverse urban and suburban environments serve students from preschool through high school and include a school for adult education. The board coordinates the educational program; provides leadership in its development; and is responsible for the management of the schools. It provides a wide variety of leadership and supervisory responsibilities in areas that include its curriculum, education programs, assessment and evaluations. It supervises the business services of the school district, such as construction and facilities renovation, maintenance and operations, technology, purchases and fiscal services. It promotes extracurricular student activities, including many athletic, arts and youth programs that are offered through its schools.
